10/17/07 :: Report :: Northeastern Oklahoma

Just another typical chase day in Oklahoma. Everything from the models to the SPC showed potential for a decent chase day with the possibility for tornadoes. But as usual, it just turned out to be a whole lot of nothing. I was hoping to catch at least a wall cloud or funnel, but no such luck.

I set out later in the day west of Tulsa into Pawnee County to intercept some cells that were rapidly moving NE from the Oklahoma City area. I ended up following what was left of the cells into the Hominy area and the cut back to intercept another line that was moving through the Tulsa area. The storms by this point were moving at a brisk 40-50 mph and weren't worth following once daylight started to dwindle.

However, the line that moved through Tulsa did cause some damage around town and also knocked over a tent at Oktoberfest which ended up sending about 30 people to the hospital. Fortunately no one was seriously injured.
