Superdome to be evacuated

Water is still on the rise in New Orleans as the levees are still breached and supplies to fix them are having to be shipped in since most of New Orleans and the surrounding areas have been completely devastated by flood waters that are still on the rise. CNN also reports that the helicopters that were going to be used to position and drop sandbag to close the breaches have been called away for rescue operations for still hundreds that are in need of assistance and are trapped on roof-tops and attics. The thousands of refugees at the Superdome are being evacuated to the Texas Astrodome (full story). Due to the wide-spread devastation, a large portion of the Gulf of Mexico's oil production is still shut down causing gas prices to sky-rocket.

Weather Bonk

I just came across this today and thought it was really cool. It's an online weather program based off of Google Maps. It uses the Google Maps setup (with map, satellite, and hybrid) with overlays of current radar data and markers for temperature, wind, and weather conditions (clickable) as well as some web cams for live views around limited areas. With a little more development, I think this could be a very nice frugal chase software. Unfortunately, it'll most likely require broadband, but will still make a nice addition when your able to make a stop by a WiFi hotspot. It's still being designed pretty heavily, but from what I've read, there's a ton more on the way as far as more useful tools for current weather. Check it out.
